David Stephensen, QDT Management Consultants

David Stephensen, author

I have been a professional educator in information technology since 1974, technical communicator and information designer since 1992 and have worked in business process consultancy since 1998. I have created procedure manuals for businesses and software user manuals that reflect business processes. My product, the Q-Template™, is a structure for small and medium business operations manuals, with full instructions for making your business comply with quality, safety and environmental standards.

Previous work

Previously I was a secondary Information Technology (IT) teacher in Tasmania, Australia.  In the 1980s I did some research on what was going on elsewhere in the world.  I concluded that in those years from 1973 to 1990,  Tasmania was the world leader in secondary school computer education. We focused on how the ordinary person would apply IT rather than just on programming. We had a lot of fun.

After leaving the classroom I created and published a computers and science newspaper index for use in schools.

Education

B.Sc. (University of Queensland), B.Ed. (Tasmania University)

What I like about my work

I love helping people to automate what can be automated so that they can focus on being creative in their lives.

What I still hope to achieve and learn in this field

To have even more happy clients with living, breathing procedure manuals and automated workflows at the centres of their businesses.

Believe it or not

Once you spend a little time learning how, it is easier write a well-formatted document than a messy one.

Our associates

official-bni-logo-pan506-2010We have an extensive network of trusted associates who offer services that complement ours.  Many are members of Business Networking International (BNI) and are bound by their fellow members to do outstanding work. Though there is no longer a chapter in Bendigo, we admire the organisation and continue to work with BNI members where possible. They provide additional support, knowledge and skill and are located in many places.
