Franchise scenario

It is common in Brazil and a great place to get a reasonably priced and healthy meal. Customers pay for their meal based on the weight of the food they select.

Carlo and Sílvia wanted to bring this concept to Australia.  They started their own per kilo restaurant in Melbourne just like the one they had back in Brazil, but with an Australian flavour. It became very popular. They decided that their business model was ripe for a franchise and engaged a franchise lawyer to help set it up.

Getting help

As non-native English speakers, they wanted a professional writer to review all content for the manual. They would do their best to write instructions. The professional writer would edit it and produce the result.

The franchise lawyer referred Carlo and Sílvia to QDT for:

QDT worked directly on the management and operations aspects of the manual. They called in specialists to help with:

  • Human Resources (HR),
  • Work Health and Safety (WHS),
  • Food Safety and
  • Marketing strategy

They integrated the specialist contributions into the manual.  Their system also allowed for future updates from those specialists.

QDT used its product, the Q-Template™ as a structure for the franchisee manual.

Carlo and Sílvia together decided to 8 hours per week to do as much writing as they possibly could. They would give it to QDT for review and English corrections.

How QDT helped

For training their team members they needed videos rather than text. QDT helped them work out a quick way to make ‘how to’ videos. These would be part of the procedure manual. Team members could view them on their devices.

QDT integrated all documentation into the on-line manual. They set up secure access so that franchisees and team members could only view information relevant to them.
